Quick answer
What is an AI dialer? It is outbound calling software that uses AI around the call, not just to dial faster. DialerBee's AI dialer detects answering machines from the transcript of the greeting in 11 languages, paces calls in preview, progressive, power or ML-driven predictive mode, scores every call, and can run an AI voice agent campaign on the same list machinery. Seats are $129 per agent per month on Professional; the AI voice agent is $0.60 per started connected minute.
The six AI layers
What makes a dialer an AI dialer?
Many products add "AI" to an auto dialer by bolting on a transcript. The test is whether AI changes the decisions that cost you money: who answered, how many lines to open, who holds the conversation, and what happened on it.
AI answering machine detection
The opening seconds of an answered call are transcribed and classified as a person or a machine from the words, not from a beep. The verdict carries a confidence score, and the threshold is set per tenant and per campaign. Agents correct a wrong verdict as they work, and those corrections feed tenant-scoped tuning.
How AI AMD works →Pacing across four dialing modes
Preview, progressive, power and predictive, chosen per campaign. Predictive mode uses ML-driven pacing with abandon-rate guardrails, so the dialer decides how many lines to open from live campaign data rather than a ratio someone typed in at 9 a.m.
The predictive dialer →AI voice agent campaigns
Point an AI voice agent at a contact list and run it as an outbound campaign with the same list and pacing machinery your human campaigns use. It answers from your knowledge base, quotes only catalogue prices, and hands off to a human agent.
The AI voice agent →AI callbacks
The AI voice agent places callbacks itself, so a promise made on the first call is kept without occupying a seat. For human agents, lead management covers dispositions and callbacks.
Callback scheduling →Live transcription and assist
Agents see the conversation as text while it happens, get suggestions during the call and can follow a caller in another language. Transcription with AI summaries covers 11 languages.
Live agent assist →AI scoring of every call
Every call is scored automatically, so quality review covers all calls instead of the handful a QA lead has time to hear.
QA scorecards →Detection
How does an AI dialer tell a person from a voicemail?
Answering machine detection decides how many real conversations your agents get. Call a machine a person and an agent listens to a recording. Call a person a machine and you hang up on someone who answered.
Traditional AMD measures timing: how long the speech runs, whether silence follows, whether a tone arrives. Timing says nothing about who is speaking. DialerBee's AI AMD works on the words instead. On every answered call it:
- transcribes the opening seconds as they arrive;
- detects the language and dialect automatically;
- returns a person-or-machine verdict with a confidence score;
- lets the campaign threshold decide what that score means, so a collections list and a survey list can sit at different levels of caution.
That matters most where traditional detection is weakest: voicemail systems that play no usable beep, long live greetings that look like recordings, and short recorded greetings that look like people. It is why DialerBee treats Arabic as dialects (Gulf, Levantine, Egyptian, Maghrebi) rather than one language; the Arabic AMD guide walks through the cases. When the verdict is "machine", voicemail drop can leave a recorded message, enabled per campaign.
We do not publish an accuracy or speed figure for AMD, because both move with the carrier, the language and how quickly the greeting starts. Ask for measurements on traffic that resembles yours, and compare the methods on AI AMD vs beep detection.
Pacing
Which dialing mode should an AI dialer use?
DialerBee runs four modes, chosen per campaign, so the same team can run a cautious campaign and a high-volume one side by side.
- Preview: the agent sees the record before the call is placed. Use it for high-value accounts, complex sales and anything where reading the history first changes the call.
- Progressive: the next call is placed when an agent becomes free, one line per agent. Little abandon risk; a good default for regulated or sensitive lists.
- Power: a set number of lines per agent. More talk time than progressive on lists with low answer rates, at the cost of some abandon risk.
- Predictive: ML-driven pacing decides how many lines to open from live campaign data, with abandon-rate guardrails. Best on large lists with enough agents for the model to work with.
Preview and power are on every plan; progressive and predictive need Professional or Enterprise. For the trade-offs in detail, see the predictive dialer and power vs predictive vs progressive.
Side by side
AI dialer vs traditional auto dialer vs AI voice agent calling
Three different things are sold under the same search term. The DialerBee columns describe what DialerBee does; the auto dialer column describes the category.
| Traditional auto dialer | DialerBee AI dialer (human agents) | DialerBee AI voice agent campaign | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who talks to the customer | A human agent | A human agent | The AI voice agent; a human on hand-off |
| How lines are paced | Fixed ratio or one at a time | Four modes; predictive uses ML-driven pacing with abandon-rate guardrails | Same list and pacing machinery as human campaigns |
| Answering machine detection | Beep and silence timing | Transcript classification in 11 languages, threshold per campaign | A campaign setting: ask to see machine handling on an AI campaign in your demo |
| After the call | Agent types notes | Transcript, AI summary and AI score on every call | Recording, transcript and outcome pushed to the CRM |
| Pre-dial checks | Usually a list scrub before upload | DNC, consent, calling hours, frequency and CLI ownership at the dial | Same list machinery; governance limits and kill switches in Agent Studio |
| Cost driver | Seats | Seats (Professional $129/agent/month) | $0.60 per started connected minute on managed AI, plus the seats of whoever takes hand-offs |
| Best for | Small lists, simple scripts | Teams of human agents on volume lists | Short, repeatable calls: reminders, confirmations, simple callbacks |
Longer comparison: AI dialer vs traditional dialer.
AI voice agent campaigns
Can an AI dialer make the calls without a human agent?
Yes, for the right calls. An AI voice agent campaign in DialerBee calls a contact list using the same list and pacing machinery as a human campaign. The agent answers from a knowledge base you upload, speaks only prices in your catalogue, lets the caller interrupt, books or moves appointments after a free-busy check, places its own callbacks, and follows up by SMS or WhatsApp. Every call leaves a recording, a transcript and an outcome pushed to your CRM.
Control sits with your supervisor: capacity and governance limits are set in Agent Studio before the campaign starts, and kill switches stop one agent, one campaign or all AI calling.
Appointment reminder: the customer reschedules

Be honest about the split
When should humans make the call?
An AI-agent-only campaign is the wrong tool for
- Complex or high-value sales, where the call is a negotiation and the next question depends on reading the person.
- Regulated advice: financial, legal or medical guidance belongs with a qualified person, not a voice agent.
- Hardship and disputes in collections: a customer who says they cannot pay, or that the debt is wrong, needs a trained agent.
- Complaints and escalations, where the customer wants to be heard by someone accountable.
Where an AI voice agent earns its minutes
- Reminders and confirmations: payment due dates, appointments, renewals.
- Simple rescheduling and callbacks that would otherwise tie up a seat.
- Early-stage collections reminders, handing off to a human the moment the customer wants to talk terms.
- After-hours and overflow callbacks your team cannot reach in time.
The usual winner is both: humans on an AI dialer for the conversations that need judgement, an AI voice agent on the repeatable ones, on the same lists. Which calls to automate has a fuller checklist.
Pre-dial checks
What should an AI dialer check before it dials?
Faster dialing makes mistakes faster too. DialerBee applies compliance-supporting controls at the dial, not only when a list is uploaded:
| Do-not-call | DNC and DNCR list checks before the number is dialed. |
|---|---|
| Consent | Consent tracking, including revoke, so a withdrawn consent stops the next dial. |
| Calling hours | Calling windows per jurisdiction and time zone of the person being called. |
| Frequency | Frequency and retry limits on how often the same person is tried. |
| CLI ownership | The caller ID presented must be one you are verified to own. |
Jurisdiction packs cover UAE TDRA, KSA CST, Jordan TRC and Bahrain TRA, with configurable controls for TCPA, GDPR and other frameworks, abandon-rate guardrails and append-only audit logging. DialerBee does not provide legal advice or guarantee regulatory compliance; your counsel decides what your campaigns may do.
Pricing
How much does AI dialer software cost?
DialerBee charges per agent seat, with no per-minute platform fee. The AI voice agent is the one usage-billed item.
Starter · $69/agent/month
Up to 20 agents. Preview and power dialing, basic AMD (beep detection). No AI AMD, no predictive, no AI voice agent.
Professional · $129/agent/month
Up to 100 agents. All four dialing modes, AI AMD with tenant-scoped tuning, live agent assist and transcription, QA scorecards, WhatsApp and SMS. AI voice agent available as an add-on.
Enterprise · custom
Unlimited agents, custom compliance rules, white-label and multi-tenant management, 99.95% uptime SLA. AI voice agent available as an add-on.
AI voice agent: $0.60 per started connected minute on managed AI. With your own model keys, your model provider bills you and a flat monthly platform fee replaces the per-minute rate. Carrier minutes are billed by your carrier in every case. Annual billing saves 20%. Full detail on pricing.
Worked example: a 20-seat collections team
Twenty agents work arrears calls in predictive mode with AI AMD. An AI voice agent campaign handles early-stage payment reminders: 3,000 connected calls a month at about 2 minutes each, with every customer who wants to discuss terms handed to a human.
| 20 Professional seats × $129 (monthly billing) | $2,580 |
|---|---|
| 3,000 AI calls × 2 started minutes = 6,000 minutes × $0.60 | $3,600 |
| Monthly platform total, before carrier minutes | $6,180 |
| Seats on annual billing (20% off: $103.20 × 20) | $2,064 |
Two things move this number. Billing is per started connected minute, so a call of 1 minute 10 seconds counts as 2 minutes: keep reminder scripts short. And the AI line only pays off if those 3,000 calls would otherwise take human time; if your agents are idle between predictive calls anyway, start with AI AMD and pacing and add AI minutes later. Without the AI voice agent, the same team is $2,580 a month on Professional. The numbers are illustrative; your own call lengths decide the real figure.
Languages and carriers
Does it work in my language and on my carrier?
AI AMD, transcription and the platform interface support 11 languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Turkish, Hindi, Urdu, Portuguese and Indonesian. Arabic covers Gulf, Levantine, Egyptian and Maghrebi dialects, and the language is detected per call, so one campaign can dial a mixed-language list.
DialerBee is BYOC. Self-serve sign-up needs your own SIP trunk or PBX; DialerBee then runs campaigns, pacing, pre-dial checks, the agent desktop and reporting on top, with no per-minute platform fee. If you would rather DialerBee supplied the numbers and trunks, talk to sales.
Buying checklist
How do I compare AI dialer software?
- Test AMD on your own numbers. Ask how the vendor detects machines, in which languages, and whether the threshold is per campaign. Be wary of a single headline accuracy figure with no method behind it.
- Check which modes are on which plan. Predictive is often the reason to buy and often the first thing held back for a higher tier.
- Price the AI minutes honestly. Ask whether billing is per second, per minute or per started minute, and whether unanswered attempts count.
- Ask where the pre-dial checks run. At upload only, or at every dial, including AI agent campaigns and API-placed calls.
- Ask how you stop it. A kill switch your supervisor holds beats a support ticket.
- Ask about carriers. Bundled minutes are convenient; your own trunks keep telecom costs and caller IDs under your control.
