Quick answer

What should a Saudi business look for in an AI receptionist? One that answers in Arabic and English, books into your real calendar, follows your Sunday to Thursday week and Ramadan hours, confirms on WhatsApp and hands off to staff. DialerBee's AI receptionist does this in 11 languages. It costs $0.60 per started connected minute (about SAR 2.25) on a Professional plan at $129 (about SAR 484) per agent per month. A salon taking 400 two-minute calls pays about $609, or SAR 2,284, a month.

Built for how the Kingdom phones

What does an AI receptionist need to do in Saudi Arabia?

An AI receptionist (in Arabic, موظف استقبال ذكي) is more than an answering machine. A Saudi front desk has to cope with Arabic first and several other languages after it, a Sunday to Thursday week, short gaps when staff step away for prayer, and a different shape of day for a whole month every Ramadan.

Arabic first, English and more on the same line

Most Saudi callers want Arabic; many residents call in English, Urdu, Hindi or Egyptian and Levantine Arabic. The agent works in 11 languages, with Arabic handled as dialects, including Gulf, rather than one flattened language.

Bookings straight into the diary

It checks free-busy on a connected Google Calendar or Microsoft 365 calendar, then books, moves or cancels during the call, and only says it is booked once the system has confirmed it.

A Sunday to Thursday week, set once

Business-hours and holiday calendars are set per tenant, so your working week, Eid, Founding Day, National Day and shorter Ramadan hours are settings, not a memo to staff.

WhatsApp after the call

The confirmation or follow-up goes out on WhatsApp or SMS, and replies land against the same contact.

Only the prices you charge

A price-truth guard means only prices in your service catalogue can be spoken. Ask about a service that is not in the catalogue and the agent does not make a price up.

A person when it matters

Complaints, emergencies, advice and anyone who asks for a person are handed to your team. The handoff is a designed branch of the call.

Where the calls go missing

Why do Saudi businesses miss calls in the first place?

Rarely because nobody cares. The phone rings while the receptionist is with a customer at the desk, while the team has stepped away for prayer, in the evening rush after the shop reopens, on a Friday or Saturday when the office is closed, or during the iftar break in Ramadan. A salon, a clinic front desk or a car service reception is often one person doing three jobs.

The calls that matter most are the easiest to lose: a new customer asking for a price, someone trying to book for this evening, a buyer asking whether a flat is still available. Many will not leave a voicemail. Automatic call answering (الرد الآلي على المكالمات) only helps if the thing that answers can actually finish the job: give the right price, make the booking and send the confirmation.

That is the job an AI receptionist should be measured on. Not whether it picks up, but whether the caller hangs up with an answer or a booking, and whether the calls it should not handle reach a person.

Jordanian Arabic · inbound · 49 seconds

This recording is in Jordanian Arabic, not Saudi Arabic. Gulf Arabic is handled too: ask to hear it in the demo, and test it on your own script before launch. Notice the ending: the agent does not claim a booking it has not made, and tells the caller the team will confirm.

Arabic, honestly

Can an Arabic AI receptionist understand Saudi callers?

The agent handles Arabic as dialects, including Gulf, Levantine and Egyptian, rather than as one flattened language, and it works in 10 more languages: English, Hindi, Urdu, Turkish, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Indonesian. That matters in the Kingdom, where the next caller may be a Saudi customer, an Egyptian or Jordanian resident, or someone who would rather speak English or Urdu.

Saudi Arabic is not one accent. Najdi and Gulf speech are the most common, and a caller from Jeddah or Abha does not sound like one from Riyadh or Al Khobar. We do not list each Saudi variety as a separately named dialect, so the honest advice is the same for any provider: test the agent with recordings or live calls from your own callers, with your own service names, district names and prices, and judge by ear.

One voice, Layla, the female voice, speaks for every persona, and callers can interrupt: the agent stops and listens. Our Arabic AI voice agent page lists the twelve tests worth running before you route a live number.

From the call to the diary to the chat

How does it book, and how does the customer hear back?

Google Calendar and Microsoft 365

Before offering a time, the agent checks free-busy on the connected calendar. Google Calendar and Microsoft 365 sync at organisation scope and to each staff member's own calendar, so "Sunday after Asr with Noura" means Noura's diary. The service catalogue carries each service's duration and resources, and capacity rules refuse a booking when a service is full instead of double-booking it.

See Google Calendar, Microsoft 365 and appointments and reminders.

WhatsApp and SMS after the call

After the call, the agent sends the confirmation or follow-up on WhatsApp or SMS. WhatsApp can carry approved templates, documents, a location pin for your branch, and interactive buttons and lists, and replies come back against the same contact. Reminders go out over SMS, WhatsApp and email on the policy you set.

Voice, WhatsApp and SMS share one consent and suppression record, so an opt-out on one channel applies to the others. See WhatsApp and SMS.

Hours as configuration

How do the Saudi working week, prayer times and Ramadan fit in?

The week. The Saudi working week runs Sunday to Thursday, on Arabia Standard Time (UTC+03:00, with no daylight saving). Plenty of salons, restaurants and car service centres open on Friday evening and Saturday too, and those are often their busiest days. In DialerBee, business-hours and holiday calendars are set per tenant and enforced by schedule gates, so you enter your own week rather than a Monday to Friday default, and add Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Founding Day and National Day as holidays.

Prayer times. Front desks often go quiet for a short while at each prayer and for longer around Friday prayer. DialerBee does not have a separate prayer-time setting. The simpler pattern is to route your number to the AI receptionist, so it answers, books and confirms whoever calls, and keep handoffs pointed at a queue that is open. When your human queue is closed, callers hear a message in the voice you chose and an SMS fallback template can go out. If nobody picks up within your ring timeout, the caller hears your own announcement and a nominated manager gets an SMS naming the caller.

Ramadan. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, subject to moon sighting. The day reshapes itself around suhoor and iftar, working hours shorten, and the evening becomes busy. A practical set-up: load shorter Ramadan hours on your queue for the month, keep the AI receptionist on the number through the iftar break so bookings do not stop when the team breaks the fast, offer slots after Taraweeh if that is when you open, and revert after Eid. Our Ramadan contact center playbook covers the month in detail.

Pricing in dollars and riyals

How much does an AI receptionist cost in Saudi Arabia?

The AI voice agent is $0.60 per started connected minute on managed AI, about SAR 2.25, added to a Professional plan at $129 per agent per month, about SAR 484. With your own model keys a flat monthly fee replaces the per-minute rate.

Worked example: a Riyadh salon, one month

A fictional salon routes its main number to the AI receptionist. It takes bookings, answers price and opening-hours questions from the service menu, and sends a WhatsApp confirmation. One receptionist keeps a Professional seat to take handoffs and complaints.

Line USD SAR
Calls answered by the AI receptionist 400 a month 400 a month
Average length, in started minutes 2 minutes 2 minutes
AI minutes: 800 × $0.60 $480 ≈ SAR 1,800
1 Professional seat for the person who takes handoffs $129 ≈ SAR 484
Total for the month $609 ≈ SAR 2,284
Cost per answered call ≈ $1.52 ≈ SAR 5.71

AI minutes are billed per started connected minute, so a call of 1 minute 10 seconds counts as 2. Measure your average in started minutes, not in seconds. On annual billing the seat is 20% less, $103.20 (about SAR 387) a month, which brings this example to $583.20, about SAR 2,187.

Four Saudi examples, monthly
Business AI calls × length Seats USD SAR
Small salon or barber 200 × 2 min = 400 min 1 $240 + $129 = $369 ≈ SAR 1,384
Car service centre 300 × 2 min = 600 min 1 $360 + $129 = $489 ≈ SAR 1,834
Real estate brokerage 250 × 3 min = 750 min 1 $450 + $129 = $579 ≈ SAR 2,171
Multi-doctor outpatient clinic 600 × 2.5 min = 1,500 min 2 $900 + $258 = $1,158 ≈ SAR 4,343

Examples, not quotes. DialerBee bills in US dollars; riyal figures are conversions at the fixed peg of 1 USD = 3.75 SAR, rounded. Seats are shown at monthly prices. Carrier minutes are billed by your carrier, and VAT and other taxes are excluded. See pricing, the AI receptionist cost guide, or work out your own month with the AI receptionist ROI calculator.

Who it suits

Which Saudi businesses fit, and which calls go to a person?

The fit is any business whose phone is mostly bookings and repeat questions. Draw the line between AI and a person before launch, not after a bad call.

Business Give to the AI receptionist Send to a person
Clinics and medical centres Booking, moving and cancelling appointments; opening hours, branch location, which documents to bring; reminders and confirmations. Symptoms, results, medication, anything clinical, anything urgent. The agent does not give medical advice.
Salons, spas and barbers Booking by service, stylist and time; prices from your service menu; WhatsApp confirmation; rebooking a missed appointment. Complaints about a treatment, refunds, a regular who wants to speak to their stylist.
Real estate offices Answering listing and district questions from your documents, booking viewings into a broker's calendar, taking callback requests. Negotiation, offers, contracts, anything that depends on a broker's judgement.
Car service centres and dealerships Booking a service slot, answering what a service includes and costs from your catalogue, confirming the appointment. Diagnosis, warranty disputes, quotes for work that is not in the catalogue.
Restaurants and cafés Opening hours, branches, directions, policies, reservations where a calendar holds capacity, confirmations on WhatsApp. Complaints, catering and event enquiries, special requests that need a decision.

In every business, these go straight to a person

  • Anything that sounds like an emergency, which belongs with your staff or the emergency services
  • Medical, legal or financial advice of any kind
  • Complaints, and any caller who is angry or upset
  • Payment disputes and requests for an exception to policy
  • Emotionally sensitive calls
  • Any caller who asks for a person

When the agent hands over, your staff take the call in inbound queues that route by FIFO, round-robin or longest-idle, on the same platform. Every AI call leaves the recording, transcript and outcome in the customer's history. Salons can see more on the salons and spas page.

General guidance, not medical, legal or regulatory advice. Your own policies and your sector's rules decide which calls a person must handle.

Rules and data

What does the Saudi PDPL mean for an AI receptionist?

An AI receptionist records and transcribes calls, so it handles personal data: names, numbers, booking details and the recording itself. In Saudi Arabia that falls under the Personal Data Protection Law, supervised by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). The law applies to processing of personal data that takes place in the Kingdom, including processing of residents' data by parties outside it, and it sets conditions for transferring personal data outside the Kingdom (PDPL text, SDAIA Data Governance Platform, Articles 2 and 29, checked October 2026). The duties sit with your business as the controller of the data; a software provider cannot take them off you.

What DialerBee gives you are compliance-supporting controls. Each tenant's data is isolated with row-level security on every tenant table; data is encrypted in transit and at rest; recordings are stored on private cloud infrastructure and served through signed links; retention and storage locations are configurable per tenant; and customer call data is not used to train shared cross-tenant models by default. Voice, WhatsApp and SMS share one consent and suppression record, with consent created, updated and revoked per contact.

Two questions to ask any provider, us included, and to get answered in writing: where exactly will your call audio, transcripts and recordings be stored and processed, and which model providers are involved? This page does not claim Saudi data residency. If local hosting matters to you, raise it in the demo.

Answering inbound calls is the low-risk side of telecom rules. If you also call customers back for marketing, the CST rules apply, and DialerBee's KSA CST jurisdiction pack checks outbound attempts against your do-not-call list, calling window, consent record and caller ID ownership before the call is placed. Recording mode is set per queue.

These are compliance-supporting controls, not a compliance guarantee, and not legal advice. Confirm your obligations with SDAIA, the CST and qualified counsel. Read more in the Saudi calling guide, the Saudi CST compliance guide, the GCC PDPL guide and on the trust center.

How to test any AI receptionist for Saudi callers

Six checks to run with any provider in Riyadh or abroad, including us. A web page cannot answer them; a live call can.

1

Call it the way Riyadh and Jeddah speak

Place test calls in the Arabic your callers actually use: Najdi, Hejazi, Eastern Province speech, plus the Egyptian or Levantine Arabic many residents speak. Listen to each, and how it handles an interruption.

2

Switch languages mid-sentence

Many callers mix Arabic and English for brand names, services and numbers. Test it with your own phrases and judge the result yourself rather than accepting a vendor's description, ours included.

3

Read back a 05 mobile, a date and riyals

Ask it to repeat a Saudi 05x mobile number, a date and an amount in riyals. Callers mix Eastern and Western digits and Hijri and Gregorian dates; listen to how each comes back.

4

Book on a Sunday, and in Ramadan

Make, move and cancel a booking against your real calendar, including your Sunday to Thursday week, a holiday and your Ramadan hours, then check the diary.

5

Ask for the WhatsApp

Confirm the follow-up arrives on WhatsApp from your business, says what was agreed and lands in the same customer history.

6

Ask for a person, then ask who can stop it

Your supervisor should be able to stop one agent, one campaign or all AI calling from your own console, not by opening a ticket.

Also ask every provider for a published per-minute price, demo audio, and a written list of the calls it hands to people. If any of the three is missing, ask why.

How do I get it on my Saudi number?

  1. Choose the number. Ask for a demo and we set up the number for you, or connect the Saudi SIP trunk or PBX you already have. BYOC connects the trunks you contract today.
  2. Load what it may say. Upload your FAQs and policies to the knowledge base, and enter your services and prices in the service catalogue.
  3. Connect the diary. Link Google Calendar or Microsoft 365, and set your Sunday to Thursday week, holidays and Ramadan hours.
  4. Decide the handoffs. Agree which calls go to a person and which queue takes them.
  5. Test, then go live. Place test calls from Agent Studio in Arabic and English. Versions publish and roll back, and kill switches stop the agent from your own console.

Questions

AI receptionist in Saudi Arabia: FAQ

Is there an AI receptionist that speaks Arabic for Saudi businesses?
Yes. DialerBee's AI receptionist is its AI voice agent, Layla, answering your number in 11 languages, including Arabic and English. Arabic is handled as dialects, including Gulf, Levantine and Egyptian. Saudi callers speak several regional varieties, so before you go live, place test calls in the Arabic your own callers use, including mixed Arabic and English, and judge the result by ear.
How much does an AI receptionist cost in Saudi Arabia?
On DialerBee the AI voice agent is $0.60 per started connected minute on managed AI (about SAR 2.25 at the 3.75 peg), added to a Professional plan at $129 per agent per month (about SAR 484). For example, 400 calls a month at 2 minutes each is $480 of AI minutes plus one seat: $609, or about SAR 2,284. DialerBee bills in US dollars; carrier minutes are billed by your carrier and VAT is excluded.
Can it book into Google Calendar or Microsoft 365?
Yes. It checks free-busy on the connected calendar and then books, reschedules or cancels during the call. Google Calendar and Microsoft 365 sync at organisation scope and to each staff member's own calendar, and capacity rules refuse a booking when a service is full. It only tells the caller a booking is made once the system has confirmed it.
Does it know the Saudi weekend, Eid and Ramadan hours?
You set them. Business-hours and holiday calendars are configured per tenant and enforced by schedule gates, so you enter your Sunday to Thursday week, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Founding Day and National Day, and your Ramadan hours for the month. When your queue is closed, callers hear a message in the voice you chose and an SMS fallback template can go out.
What about prayer times, when the front desk steps away?
DialerBee has no separate prayer-time feature. What helps is routing the number to the AI receptionist so it answers whoever calls while your team is away, then handing off to a person only when your queue is open. If a call does reach a queue nobody answers within your ring timeout, the caller hears your own announcement and a nominated manager gets an SMS naming the caller.
How does DialerBee help with the Saudi PDPL?
No software can meet your PDPL duties for you; the law places duties on the business that controls the data. DialerBee provides compliance-supporting controls: per-tenant data isolation with row-level security, encryption in transit and at rest, configurable retention and storage locations, and consent records shared across voice, WhatsApp and SMS. Ask us where your tenant's data would be hosted and get the answer in writing; we do not claim Saudi data residency on this page.
Can I keep my existing Saudi number?
Yes, if it reaches us on a SIP trunk or PBX: the self-serve trial connects your own trunk or PBX, and BYOC connects the Saudi SIP trunks you already contract. If you would rather not deal with trunks, ask for a demo and we set up the number for you.
Will it replace my receptionist?
That is not how we recommend using it. It takes the repetitive calls, such as bookings, opening hours, prices and reminders, so your team can give their attention to the person in front of them and to the calls that need judgement. Every AI call leaves a recording, a transcript and an outcome in the customer's history.
